Host Interfaces
In each of these applications, the Encore system must interface with the call center’s database. The database can be stored
locally on Encore but typically resides in a host computer or SQL server. Host communications allow information to be exchanged between the Encore
System and many different types of host environments. Callers input data in the Encore system via a Touch-Tone telephone or Voice Recognition. In
turn, the Encore system formats the data into a transaction familiar to a SQL server or the host computer.
The SQL server or host computer responds to the transaction and the Encore system translates the response into a message to callers. The message
is a combination of dictionary words and phrases and pre-recorded scripts, combined into a natural sounding sentence. Text-to-Speech is available
where the vocabulary cannot be predicted or recorded in advance.
Currently supported interfaces are listed below. Other interfaces may be developed as required.
| Host Computer |
Interfaces (TCP/IP is implied if available) |
| SQL |
SQL queries are the typical means for data interaction for Wygant IVR systems.
We support all major vendors of SQL server software and systems. |
IBM 3090, 4381
|
3270 terminal emulation, using Attachmate board and software.
Communication can be through SNA or SDLC at speeds up to 56 kbps. Can also be asynchronous if an API is written on the host. |
IBM AS400 |
5250 terminal emulation, using Andrew IL 400 gateway device.
Can also be asynchronous if an API is written on the host. |
Unisys |
Uniscope terminal emulation, using CHI Engineering terminal adapter.
Can also be asynchronous if an API is written on the host. |
Hitachi |
Uses one of the terminal emulation packages above,
depending on type of synchronous terminal used. Can also be asynchronous if an API is written on the host. |
VAX |
Uses asynchronous terminal emulation software on the Encore System,
or simple RS-232 connection if API is written on host. |
NCR |
Uses asynchronous terminal emulation software on the Encore System,
or simple RS-232 connection if API is written on host. |
DEC |
Uses asynchronous terminal emulation software on the Encore System,
or simple RS-232 connection if API is written on host. |
HP |
Uses asynchronous terminal emulation software on the Encore System,
or simple RS-232 connection if API is written on host. |
